KATE FLATT - Choreographer
Trained: Kate studied at the Royal Ballet School and London Contemporary Dance and on a Churchill Scholarship in Germany and Eastern Europe. She assisted Léonide Massine for productions in New York, London and Australia.
Theatre choreography includes: The Dolls House (Birmingham Repertory) Three Sisters, Ends of the Earth, Albert Speer, Dream Play (National Theatre); Ties Pity She’s a Whore, Dr Faustus, Skin of Our Teeth (Young Vic); Hamlet (Old Vic)
Film choreography includes: The Avengers, Restoration, Chaplin.
Opera work includes: William Tell, Aida, Turandot (Royal Opera House) Carmelites, Requiem (English National Opera); Betrothal in a Monastery (Glyndebourne Festival Opera), Onegin, Bartered Bride (Welsh National Opera), Duenna, Gloriana, Peter Grimes (Opera North); Carmen (Orange Festival and Bastille Opera); and Damnation De Faust (Châtelet Theatre, Paris).
Dance includes: The Dancing Room, co-devised for a UK tour and for BBC2.
Extra: Kate created the original musical staging of the Royal Shakespeare’s Company Les Miserables, for UK tours, in Germany, Japan, France and the current New York production.
